Fundraisers jumping for the animals

Annah Stretton of charitable organisation Reclaim Another Woman (RAW) and her team supported this year’s SPCA’s Jump to the Rescue fundraiser to support the SPCA.

For the annual fundraiser supporters who raised money for the charity had an opportunity to participate in a 4000m skydive.

Three fearless RAW skydivers launched themselves out of a plane at Taupo¯ last weekend.

The three women raised in excess of $2600 before the launch day on June 16.

The three RAW women who did the jump were Norefjell, Mary and Charlotte, and all three wanted to do something positive for the animals that the SPCA takes care of.

The tandem skydive initiative raises vital funds for New Zealand’s abused, unwanted and unloved animals.

Jumpers chose from three locations across the country to jump — Auckland, Taupo¯ or Christchurch.

“As an organisation we are proud of how these women have taken positive steps in their lives after joining Reclaim Another Woman while they were in prison,” Ms Stretton said.

“This is one example of good people who have broken the cycle, wanting to give back to an organisation that looks after animals that are vulnerable.”

RAW is a charitable social venture set up by Annah Stretton to work with recidivist female offenders to replace amplifying criminal activity with scholarship education and negotiated work.

RAW is recognised by the Department of Corrections as the only model of this kind successfully breaking a cycle of crime, drugs and violence by targeting the mothers and their tamariki, giving them visibility, acceptance and a real choice for a different way of life.

“I couldn’t be prouder of these women who encompass everything that is great about taking back control of their own lives,” Ms Stretton said.
