And just like that we are halfway through the year! Event highlights this month are of course Fieldays which returns to its regular winter date, two Kiwi comedians and Mitch James, who are all coming to Hamilton.

Other events set to combat the winter blues include:

Oklahoma!, musical, now until June 3, 7.30pm at The Woolshed, Te Awamutu

Musical set in Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the 20th century. The spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the backdrop for the love story between Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a beautiful farm girl. Tickets via iticket.

Multicultu­ral Food Festival,

June 2, 10am at Settlement Centre Waikato, Hamilton

Bring along your favourite dish and share it with others, listening to stories from past and current refugees. The event aims to engage the ties between refugees and other communitie­s. Free event.

Guy Montgomery – My Brain is Blowing Me Crazy, comedy show,

June 3, 8pm at The Meteor Theatre, Hamilton

Kiwi comedian Guy Montgomery, known from Taskmaster NZ, 7 Days and the podcast The Worst Idea of All Time, is on tour and coming to the Tron. Tickets available via The Meteor website.

Hamilton – A 20-minute City, talk,

June 8, 6.30pm at Fairfield Baptist Church Hall, 1101 Heaphy Terrace, Hamilton

The Hamilton Residents and Ratepayers Associatio­n is holding an informatio­n session about the concept of a 20-minute city.

NZSO Mendelssoh­n, Stravinsky & classical concert,

June 9, 7.30pm at the Dr John Gallagher Concert Chamber, Hamilton

The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, with conductor James Judd,

brings some classic masterpiec­es to Hamilton. The programme includes Stravinsky’s Pulcinella suite and Mendelssoh­n’s Italian Symphony. Tickets via Ticketek.

Chris Parker – Lots of Love, comedy show,

June 10, 8pm at Heaphy Room, Claudeland­s Event Centre, Hamilton

First came love, then came marriage. Now, as a 32-year-old, childless, innercity-living homosexual, Chris is naturally wondering what’s next. A purebred dachshund is on the cards. Tickets via Ticketek.

Fieldays, agricultur­al event,

June 14-17, at Mystery Creek.

The largest agricultur­al event in the southern hemisphere is returning to its regular winter dates and brings along crowd favourites like the tractor pull competitio­n and a few new additions. Tickets online at fieldays. co.nz.

Mitch James, concert, June 23, at Clarence Street Theatre, Hamilton

Mitch James is hitting the road for his first headline tour since 2019 in celebratio­n of his sophomore album patience. He is going to 11 NZ towns and will also stop in Hamilton. Tickets online via Ticketek.

The Rosetown Choristers present this fundraisin­g concert featuring songs from Aotearoa, Australia, Asia, Europe and the Americas. Entry $15. All profits to Foodbank.

Drag Queen Bingo, June 28, 7pm at Lucky Finn’s, Hamilton
