Homicide investigation

Police have found several ‘‘items of interest’’ near a Hawke’s Bay pub where a man died after suffering serious injuries. The death is being treated as a homicide. Detective Senior Sergeant Marty James said police were called to the Flax Bar and Eatery, also known as the Flaxmere Tavern, near Hastings, about 10.30pm on Sunday where the victim died in the carpark. . The man has not yet been formally identified but police confirmed he was ‘‘around’’ 40 years old.
