Five hurt in crash

Up to five people have been injured in a crash in O¯ po¯tiki. A large truck and trailer unit and a ute collided on Waiotahe Beach Road around 9.15am yesterday. Initial indications were up to five people might have been injured, police said in a statement. Two fire engines, three ambulances and several police cars attended the crash scene, located at the site where two large slips came down earlier this year. Traffic was guided past the crash scene as ambulance officers worked on the injured. The truck driver was treated at the scene but three young men were taken to Whakatane Hospital.
