Woman filmed in shower

-

A young Hamilton mother feels violated after catching a man allegedly filming her through the window as she showered overnight. Police are now appealing for residents in the Silverdale and Hillcrest communities to report any suspicious people or similar instances in recent weeks. The 23-year-old Hamilton woman was at her Beech Cres home in the suburb of Silverdale around midnight on Friday when the alleged filming happened. Her partner arrived home after working the evening shift and went to bed. After putting her one-year-old son down to sleep, the woman went to take a shower and wash her hair. With no working fan in the bathroom, the window of the older style weatherboard home was left ajar, she said. ‘‘I jumped out and was standing there drying myself when I looked into the mirror,’’ the woman, still rattled by the incident said. That’s when she said she spotted the phone glinting in the darkness outside the window. ‘‘I got really startled. At first I thought it was my partner having a joke, then I realised it wasn’t him. ‘‘I was standing there for a few seconds, the phone was right in front of me. I don’t know what they got.’’ She could only make out an older model possibly iPhone 4 style phone in the darkness with no flash. The woman stood there momentarily before grabbing a towel and hurriedly wrapping it around her. ‘‘I came running out, pretty much screaming.’’ She said her brother-in-law who lives at the home and her partner ran outside to investigate. The group phoned police who arrived with a dog handler to search the area. Waikato police Senior Sergeant Will Loughrin said police responded to a report of a man filming a woman at a house on Beech Cres.
