Gang boss granted bail
Tribal Huk leader Jamie Pink has been granted bail after appearing on an assault charge in relation to the ‘‘depatching’’ of a fellow gang member. Pink, 47, was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He also faces a charge of participating in an organised criminal group with the shared objective being a serious violent offence. Through his lawyer, Roger Laybourn, Pink pleaded not guilty to both charges at the Hamilton District Court yesterday. The charges relate to an alleged incident in Nga¯ruawa¯hia on August 8, in which a former sergeant-atarms in the Waikato-based gang was allegedly set upon in the town’s main street. The 32-yearold man was allegedly attacked with an axe and sledgehammer, leaving him with severe injuries to his legs and hands. He will reappear at the Hamilton District Court on February 21.
