Award for Te Rapa warehouses

-

Stage 1 of the Te Rapa Gateway warehouses on Arthur Porter Drive has won a Merit Award at the Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards 2019.

Awards were presented to outstanding property projects, developments or substantive refurbishments across New Zealand. They recognise buildings that provide an outstanding return and/or delivery of service potential on investment of funds.

Constructed by Calder Stewart (Hamilton) and designed by Eclipse Architecture, 520 and 560 Arthur Porter Drive picked up the CBRE Industrial Property Award.

David Chafer, general manager of Chalmers Properties, which owns and developed the warehouses, said they were ‘‘a master-planned industrial development of A-grade offices and warehouses’’.

Offices were placed forward of the warehouse to create a strong physical presence and enhance accessibility for occupants, which also improved the access of natural light into the building.

Limiting sites to one-deep gave each structure road frontage and solved two key issues: getting large vehicles in and out, and separating office staff from truck traffic.

Several innovative materials and design features maximise quality, efficiency and flexibility. ’’
