Dead battery stalls Dixon
New Zealander Scott Dixon is now a long shot to retain his IndyCars title after a dead battery cost him the race lead in the Grand Prix of Portland. Dixon finished 16th as Australia’s Will Power won for the first time at the Portland International Raceway in Oregon yesterday. The Kiwi driver – a five-time IndyCars champion – was leading by 3sec on lap 52 when his No 9 PNC Bank Honda’s battery went flat. Dixon lost three laps during the pitt change and later lamented: ‘‘I just hate giving away an easy win like that’’.
