Haven for immigrants

-

While Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s ‘Mother Theresa’ look was most appropriate to ensure that immigrants and their cultures were equally, ‘us’, I wonder if the job market and work environment in this country is being stage managed by government to ensure that we look good internationally as a good haven for immigrants, while in the job markets we are seeing ‘born and bred’ Kiwis, Maori and Pakeha starting to be seen as a less important ‘us’ than those who immigrated.

There is some unrest in certain commercial entities and franchises, that workers are ‘banned’ from speaking out about in case they are termed, horror of horrors, racist or anti immigrants.

The problem seems to be that in some franchises, immigrants are being preferred over indigenous Kiwi applicants, and in the case of even long serving employees, immigrants are leapfrogging over them to take up ‘control positions’ , after ridiculously short periods of service.

This results in a chain of nepotism which will cause social offence before long.

Stuff reporters seem to be slow, or unwilling to publicly reveal this problem, causing some to wonder if they are ‘towing the line’ in the interests of government finally giving the nod to amalgamation between the main print media companies.

Dennis Pennefather, Te Awamutu Editor’s reply: The editor categorically refutes any claims that journalists are altering the way, or ‘towing the government line’ when they report on politics/politicians while discussions occur around the possibility of NZME buying Stuff. There is absolutely no evidence of this occurring.
