Coroner to investigate Tu¯rangi death
The coroner is to investigate the death of a man who died a month after sustaining burns in a Tu¯ rangi house fire in early January. The man died on February 7 a month after suffering the injuries on January 5. His name has not been released publicly. Emergency services were alerted to the fire at a home on Hingaia Street, in Tu¯ rangi, about 7pm. One nearby resident said the man, who had lived in Tu¯ rangi for years, had been helping a neighbour move when he sustained the injuries from the fire. Others said the former tenant of the house, who he had been assisting, was deeply shocked by the tragedy.
