The Electoral Commission has released the names of the candidates standing in the Hamilton West by-election, along with a list of voting places for when voting starts.

Twelve candidates are seeking election in the by-election, called after the resignatio­n of beleaguere­d former Labour MP Gaurav Sharma.

The candidates are: Georgie Dansey (Labour), Gordon John Dickson (Independen­t), Rudi Du Plooy (New Conservati­ve + One Party), Frank Fu (Independen­t), James McDowall (ACT), Richard Osmaston (Money Free Party), Naomi Pocock (The Opportunit­ies Party), Donna Pokere-Phillips (Freedom and Outdoors Party), Tama Potaka (National), Gaurav Sharma (NZ Momentum Party), Jade Tait (Vision NZ), Peter Wakeman (Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party).

Voting in the Hamilton West electorate starts on Monday, November 28, and ends at 7pm on election day, Saturday, December 10. On election day, the electorate will have 20 voting places open. dozIennaad­ddviatinoc­netpootlhl­iensge,ptlhaecree­s wopilelnbe­fraom the November 28.

‘‘There will be 12 advance voting places open before election day in locations that are easy to access, where people will be able to enrol and vote,’’ says Le Quesne.
