Te Huia leaves a bad taste for would-be traveller
Regarding your glowing report in the Times recently about Te Huia rail link left me cross. Hamilton to Auckland link by rail? Not unless you are an able-bodied person. My friend and I wanted to treat our wheel-chair bound mate to a couple of nights in Auckland. We needed to take his hoist (measurements were given) on the train and his commode chair. Would they accommodate us? No way. Equipment might get damaged, they said. My friend has flown all over the world and been on numerous cruises. No incidents but his insurance would cover it anyway. Oh. They also said it was a two-carriage train for passengers only. No equipment. As I said a train service for able-bodied persons only.
