Summit a chance to ‘instil confidence’ in primary sector
Some of New Zealand’s most influential agriculture leaders will come together in Wellington in July for the Primary Industries New Zealand Summit and Awards.
The two-day event has been touted as an opportunity for those working in the sector to learn about innovative producers and businesses and how to strategically deal with the challenges farmers are facing.
There will also be much talk focused on how to build a resilient and productive future.
The conference is being presented by events company Brightstar and Federated Farmers. They say: “With the coalition Government getting behind the primary industries, it’s essential for New Zealand’s primary sector to connect and work to instil confidence in the future of the primary industries.”
Keynote speakers include Silver Fern Farms chief executive Dan Boulton, Nestle NZ country manager Jennifer Chappell, Fonterra chief executive Miles Hurrell, Ministry of Primary Industries’ director general Ray Smith, Rabobank NZ chief executive Todd Charteris, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade deputy secretary, trade and economic Vangelis Vitalis, and Federated Farmers national president Wayne Langford.
Panel discussions will cover topics such as how to unite rural communities, collaborating with local government, leading through change, new markets and consumer trends, as well as genetic modification.
The awards will be judged by a panel made up of farmers, rural professionals, people from the education sphere, and business and organisation leaders. The summit will be held at Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre from July 2-3.
