Cel­e­bra­tion of mu­sic at Te Awa­mutu show

Te Awa­mutu Mu­sic Fed­er­a­tion is de­lighted to present a stu­dent show­case fea­tur­ing tal­ented Waikato cel­list Hye In Kim.

Last year was Hye’s first year study­ing at the Waikato Univer­sity Con­ser­va­to­rium of Mu­sic and he was run­ner up in the New Zealand Na­tional Con­certo Com­pe­ti­tion.

As a re­sult of his achieve­ment he was in­vited to be a soloist with the New Zealand sym­phony Or­ches­tra.

Hye is part of a line-up of stu­dents who will per­form at the stu­dent show­case in Te Awa­mutu.

Some of the stu­dents cur­rently com­pet­ing in the Sec­ondary Schools Cham­ber Mu­sic Com­pe­ti­tion are also ex­pected to play.

Con­cert or­gan­is­ers say the show will be a cel­e­bra­tion of mu­sic played by pas­sion­ate and gifted young mu­si­cians.

■ The con­cert is on Sun­day, June 10 at St John’s Angli­can Church, Arawata St, at 2.30pm. Tick­ets $15 at the door, stu­dents free.
