Virtual reality goggles help council win award

“Waipa¯ went above and beyond, employing a range of techniques including virtual reality, social media, and traditiona­l channels, to great effect.

“The community clearly responded to this approach, as witnessed by the tens of thousands they reached through social media, and the significan­t uptick in submission­s on the plan.

“Waipa¯ District Council should be very proud of the work they put into this project, and the results they achieved.”

In July, council won the Local Government New Zealand Fulton Hogan Excellence Award for its work in sharing and promoting Waipa¯ ’s history.

Last month Waipa¯ was one of three councils highly commended for its 10-Year Plan consultati­on documents by the Society of Local Government Managers.
