Two locals up for award
Two local initiatives are finalists for the same award in the New Zealand Biosecurity Awards.
Pirongia Te Aroaro o Kahu Restoration Society and Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari are both up to win the Department of Conservation Community Award.
They are among 19 award finalists in seven categories.
Winners will be announced at an event on Monday, November 12 in Auckland.
The awards started two years ago to recognise and celebrate exemplary contributions to protecting New Zealand’s natural resources.
A Ministerial award recognising a contribution to biosecurity over many years will be awarded on the night.
