Walking Along Australia’s Murray River

A Walker’s World is offering the Murray River Magic – one of the Great Walks of Australia. Director Jill Grant points out this is a four day / three night walk based on staying on a houseboat on the Murray River in South Australia. ‘Walking is on specially researched routes along the river, creeks, lagoons and through ancient red gum forests with the odd climb up the spectacular red cliffs ‘The birdlife is astounding and there is plenty of wildlife, such as foxes, emus, kangaroos and koalas to spot,’ says Jill. ‘After walking (10 to14 km per day on at terrain), guests relax on the houseboat and enjoy regional gourmet food and wine. Kangaroo ‘Osso Bucco’ and Yabbie Bisque are some highlights of the menus.’ The walk has exclusive access to private property and conservancy areas. Groups are a maximum of 10. Jill says the guides are remarkable in their knowledge of the ora and fauna, history of the area and of the precious ecosystem of the Murray River Basin. The walk will operate twice weekly May to September next year and the all inclusive cost is A$2500 share twin.
