New trail from Timaru through to Pleasant Point opened

-

A new bike trail from Washdyke to Pleasant Point has opened in Timaru. The 3m wide path follows the old railway corridor and provides a safe connection for people walking and cycling between the towns. With strong community support, the trail has been a great partnership effort, with funding from NZ Transport Agency and Timaru District Council. Fulton Hogan pitched in to construct 3km of the trail.

This bike trail is the first stage of the Central South Trail which aims to create a connected cycle trail from Timaru through to Tekapo.
