Rio police probe

A human rights group in Brazil is calling for an independent inquiry into the possible use of sharpshooters by police in Rio de Janeiro Human Rights Watch Brazil said on Monday witnesses had seen shots fired from a police tower that killed two men and wounded a third. The report comes as the new governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro has floated using sharpshooters during police operations with authority to kill drug traffickers.
