Pacific leaders convene
Pacific Peoples Minister Aupito William Sio is in New Caledonia for a meeting of the oldest and largest Pacific regional organisation. He is representing New Zealand at the Pacific Community’s biennial conference in Noumea. Sio says the organisation strengthens the ability of countries and territories to sustainably manage their natural resources, respond to climate change and disasters, and improve education quality. It also helps promote human rights, gender equality and cultural diversity. New Zealand has been a member and donor of the organisation since its establishment in 1947.
