Customers’ call brings new Hiace

-

Toyota is making a quick move to add a sixth variant to the new generation Hiace van range it launched in New Zealand last month.

The additional model has the extended ZX wheelbase and raised roof dimensions with 9.3 cubic-metre load volume and will add a full panel and dual side door configuration.

Toyota New Zealand has added the new model based on customer feedback stipulating the need from some businesses for the convenience of cargo access from both sides and the security of a full panel van.

The existing Hiace ZX model, which is priced at $50,990, has side windows and left-side sliding door access.

“We’ve been in discussions with Toyota Japan around securing this addition to the line-up even before we launched the new range last month,” said Neeraj Lala, general manager of product and new vehicles sales.

“Customer feedback has added weight to these discussions essentially fast tracking our access to this model.”

The extended length and high roof ZX model offers 9.3-cubic metres of cargo space and will be available without side windows and with dual sliding doors.

This additional ZX Hiace will be available in New Zealand from September, with price to be confirmed closer to its introduction.

Five new Hiace variants were launched in New Zealand last month while three models from

the previous generation Hiace model range also remain in Toyota’s van and minibus line-up.

The major customer benefit for the new Hiace is the 2019 ANCAP 5-star safety rating that was confirmed just after the new model went on sale.

The Toyota Safety Sense package is standard across the new range including Pre-Collision System with Autonomous Emergency Braking and vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian detection.

The new Hiace also has Lane Departure Alert with brake control

(Yaw Assist) and vehicle sway warning, Road Sign Assist and Automatic High Beam. Other safety features include Trailer Sway Control, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a reverse camera and front/rear parking sensors.
