Seabirds back home

A pair of rare seabirds are back where they belong after going on a tiki tour in Waikato’s King Country. The taiko black petrels were seen more than 60 kilometres inland from the west coast, in Manaiti and Taumaranui. DoC Maniapoto District Community ranger Kina Tweeddale says they found out about the birds when they caused a stir on social media. The two were released from Mount Karioi, which overlooks a beach.
