Singer-songwriter to play in Whanganui
Honey-voiced singer songwriter Ebony Lamb has earned an enviable reputation among her contemporaries, critics and music fans. With acclaimed album Seeing Things released through her band Eb & Sparrow in March, 2018, and a touring legacy the country over, Ebony’s contemporary altcountry has earned finalist positions for both album and song at the NZ Country Music Awards.
Ebony’s increasingly diverse sound sits somewhere between Nina Simone and Gillian Welch with a glimmering of Cat Power. She’s opened for the cream of New Zealand music and international acts from Tami Neilson, Marlon Williams, Aldous Harding to Beth Orton, Pokey la Farge &
Rodriguez. She says a deep honouring of the “song” as a form of cathartic outlet to understanding the human condition has always been her focus, along with a strong audience rapport.
“This is a combined venture between myself and Sarah [of Space],” says Carla Donson, manager of the Women’s Network. “It’s a great opportunity for Whanganui folk to support Eb’s new solo career and soon to be recorded new album.”
