Reflect to hear Christian music

- By TASHA SHEMWELL Central Baptist Church Music Ministry Leader Reflect co-ordinator

Reflect is a Christian music outreach which has been running since August 2018. With a vision to bless people in our city with the words of God through music, we linked with Frank Bar and Eatery on the corner of Majestic Square to host an evening of live Christian music on the first Tuesday of each month.

Reflect is supported by One Church Whanganui, with Nigel Irwin having taken a few performance spots throughout last year.

We have had musicians and singers from Central Baptist, Faith City and Riverside Churches, and a guest from Waverley Baptist Church joined us earlier this year. Music has ranged from contemporary Christian music covers, gospel and jazz nights, instrumentals from piano soloists, to a recent bluesy night including original songs and featuring harmonica.

Band size has ranged from soloists to full six-piece guitar bands, with some fantastic vocals and harmonies.

The atmosphere is family friendly, relaxed and refreshing, a space to eat some fantastic food while socialising with friends. A spot to sit and Reflect in the city centre once a month, taking some time out from the normal hustle and bustle of life.

This year for our Christmas celebration we are running the night outside on the stage in Majestic Square on Tuesday, December 3. Bring a picnic and the family for a night of Christmas-themed music from 6.30pm.

Performing are: Whanganui Male Voice Choir, Faith City Music team and Geoff Horne from Riverside Church.

We are keen for more competent performing Christian musicians in the city to join the team and build our numbers for next year’s gigs.
