Council services and facilities at Red

-

Whanganui District Council has updated the community with information about what council services and facilities will look like under Whanganui’s current COVID-19 Protection Framework traffic light setting of Red. Whanganui District Council interim chief executive, Lance Kennedy, says, “The Government has announced the COVID-19 protection framework – the traffic light system – to help protect both at-risk people and our health system from an unsustainable number of hospitalisations due to COVID-19.

“At Red, we are all asked to continue the safety measures and COVID-19 protocols we’ve all become so familiar with. “The council is no different in this regard and we ask all visitors to council buildings to please carry on record keeping or scanning in with the COVID-19 Tracer app, hand sanitising and wearing face coverings.”

The council has carefully worked through the protocols under the current Red traffic light setting and what these mean for services and facilities.

Council services such as rates payments, dog registrations, building and planning services can be accessed online at: www.whanganui.govt.nz/online-services

Lance Kennedy says, “We understand that some people prefer to get things done in person and we welcome that. Residents can still visit customer services about rates. For many of our other services, we encourage people simply to get in touch with us first by phone on 06 349 0001.” The council has published the Red traffic light setting information and what it means for council services and facilities on its website, and will continue to update with more information as it becomes available.
