Special alcohol licences

If you are planning to sell alcohol at an event or function, you must have a special licence from Whanganui District Council. Please note that if your present premises licence or your manager’s certificate licence expires through this same period, you will need to also consider these dates.

The application must be received at least 20

working days before the event. It is suggested that it is much sooner than that. If you are planning an event to be held over the JanuaryFebruary 2022 holiday period, your application needs to be with the council no later than Monday, 20 December 2021. During the months of December and January, working days do not include weekends, public holidays or the period from 20 December 2021 to 15 January 2022 inclusive.
