Popular craft shop closes next year
Co-operative craft shop MINZ (Made in New Zealand) is closing early next year.
Due to a change in circumstances, there will be a new leaseholder taking over the premises under a new name.
MINZ has operated in three different locations in Whanganui for more than seven years and has been well supported by the Whanganui public.
Beginning at 139 Victoria Ave, they moved to number 1 — which burned down in 2019 — and then to 137a Victoria Ave, next door to the original premises.
Until recently, there was just one of the five foundation members still selling in the shop.
The store is a collaboration of artists who show their wares, as well as selling on behalf of others. One of the group says there will be a closing down sale in the new year.
