DAY

Start the day right and get your morning fix of caffeine from Simon Gault’s latest eatery, Giraffe. Situated on the edge of the Viaduct Harbour, the cosy restaurant opens at 7am every morning, providing coffee-loving early birds with a selection of sweet and savoury pastries to accompany their first coffee of the day.

Bottomless brunch, do we really need to say more? That’s right, wander down to Lula Inn this weekend and enjoy a two-hour long brunch of epic proportions, with a menu full of dishes like coconut & cranberry muesli, salmon potato hash and white chocolate pancakes. Oh, and of course, bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Marys.

No one takes oysters quite as seriously as Oyster + Chop, in fact, the restaurant has up to 10 varieties of the shellfish. So make the most of your weekend and take a long lunch as you work through the nautical eatery’s impressive menu of oysters and steaks.

NIGHT

You’ll come to Dr Rudi’s Rooftop Brewing Co for a drink with a view but you’ll stay for the foot-long pizzas and mini bowling alley. Offering their own beers brewed onsite and a rotation of local breweries on tap, as well as a mouth-watering menu of shared platters and live music, it’s no surprise the rooftop bar is a favourite amongst city workers.

Put on your Sunday best and enjoy some fine dining with even finer views at one of Auckland’s classic institutions, Soul Bar and Bistro. Situated in the centre of the Viaduct, diners are treated to a panoramic view of the harbour as they tuck into delicious dishes like west coast whitebait fritters or roasted Hapuku with crayfish ravioli.

Want cheap eats with an expensive view? A Fokker Bros’ burger will set you back no more than a crisp $20. The Viaduct eatery puts a gourmet spin on fast food classics, with gems like bacon mac & cheese burgers, gravy fries and jalapeno hot dogs, all with fresh and organic produce.

If you’re looking for somewhere to get a fancy cocktail look no further than Parasol & Swing Company. With a stellar menu of craft beers, boutique wines and ornate cocktails, crafted by internationally acclaimed bar staff, this little bar in the heart of the Viaduct is the perfect place to end the day.

So, for great food with even better views, head down to the precinct where city meets sails.
