If your last rosé experience was a tad ropey, fret not. Here are three succulent, slippery, ribbony ones that’ll slide down your oesophagus …
ROCKBURN STOLEN KISS CENTRAL OTAGO ROSÉ 2018 $30
Released on the weekend that daylight saving kicked off, this wine is crafted from fruit “stolen” from the batch that’d normally go into Rockburn’s signature pinot noir. Don’t expect anything dainty though; it’s a pink-haired punk rocker wearing a bullet belt of cherry and creaming soda and a jacket with spicy studs on its shoulders. It’ll give you less of a stolen kiss and more of a Liverpool kiss of floss and fruit saturated proportions.

TWO RIVERS ISLE OF BEAUTY MARLBOROUGH ROSÉ 2018 $20.49
Okay, this bottle might look like an elite breed but closer inspection reveals the awesome truth that this is actually a magical little mongrel done good. Winemaker Dave Clouston has jettisoned the standard single variety version of pinkdom and opted to get his smorgasbord on by blending pinot noir with syrah, viognier, pinot gris, riesling and (radically) some roussanne. And it’s good. Deliciously dry, with a hint of watermelon, cherry, pink peppercorn and fleshy, peachy punchiness – it’s fresh, feisty and seriously sippable.

TONO HAWKE’S BAY ROSADO 2017 $17.95 Crafted by Ant Mackenzie from syrah, cabernet franc and tempranillo, this is his Hawke’s Bay take on how the Spanish style their rosé, all big, buxom berries and cream flavours with a lick of spice. It also shows perfectly prickly textures in the mouth, plus it’s satisfying and saucy and darn hard to put down.
