Yvonne’s pick . . .
I knew Christopher Keys, (Gibbston Valley’s winemaker) when we were both mouthy, rather dramatic teenagers and it was a given he’d sashay toward a creative profession. Of course, that’s what winemaking is. While Chris has transformed the signature style of Gibbston’s pinot noir, it’s his Gibbston Valley Red Shed Central Otago pinot blanc 2017 ($39) that’s shivering my timbers right now. It’s a rich, savoury, luscious and mineral-driven white wine with hints of apple, fennel and white peach. It’s ultrafresh and sexy AF with goat’s cheese and rosemary honey profiteroles.
