THE BREW: A locally owned micro craft brewery is a beautiful thing and this stunning part of the world is a hot spot for independent boutique brewers. These people put love and attention into their batch-brewed craft beers, using New Zealandgrown malt, alpine water and copper brewing vats. The award-winning Black Peak is a rich full-bodied stout infused with coffee. Five kilos of freshly ground Wanaka-supplied beans go into every batch and at 6.5 per cent it has attitude. This technically makes this a breakfast brew, perfect for bracing the crisp mountain air.
