Let’s be honest, the title “mixologist” is totally made-up. But if there’s anyone who deserves a pseudo-intellectual title for their work behind the bar it’s Sother Teague, who has been featured as a cocktail expert in Esquire, the New York Times, New York Magazine, Time Out and Buzzfeed and was named “mixologist” of the year in 2018. He’s in Auckland for a series of events, at which he’ll conduct alcoholbased science experiments — aka mix cocktails — and share his insights during the four-course cocktail menu with matched appetizers by Nathan Houpapa.
