THE PLACE: Ambler Bistro & Cafe, Pt Chevalier

THE TIME: 5.30pm

THE BREW: When the days are short and the skies are grey, that Sunday evening sense of doom settles in early. There’s work and school in the morning and sensible things to do, so we decide to eke out the weekend a little longer and head to Ambler Cafe & Bistro for a tipple. The Aperol Spritz ($14) made with Monmoussea­u Methode Traditione­lle, Aperol, orange and soda was a light, refreshing and deceptivel­y alcoholic aperitif. A little bit of sunshine seemed to radiate from this delicious amber drop under the evening lights. Savouring every sip in the ambience of good company and fellow Sunday diners, our spirits are lifted. Winter feels a little warmer and the weekend a little longer.
