Art opening
A new exhibition by artist Cat Fooks opens tomorrow at Anna Miles gallery. Sprung from the soil may be an exploration of Wahneinfall, a German word that translates to a false opinion or whimsy, but there’s nothing false about her joyful and copious use of colour. In her paintings, her canvas includes the frame, meaning the whole work is a harmonious marriage of “parts”. Fooks used different qualities of paint for this series, from artist-grade oil paints to miss-tints from the local hardware store, resulting in textured works with plenty of depth and interest. Tomorrow until August 23, Anna Miles Gallery, 10/30 Upper Queen St, Auckland.
