K Rd restaurateurs wanted

- Paul Charman

ABC Business Sales is looking for restaurant operators with a wine focus to take up ground- level retail space at 321 Karangahape Rd.

“We are releasing to the market Stage Two of the K Rd Food Workshop, at 321 K Rd, with 279 square metres of ground level retail space,” says ABC leasing broker and specialist in the hospitality industry, Leah La Hood.

“This follows on from the highly successful launch of the shared hospitality space at 309, which recently opened to acclaim with customers queuing out on to the street.

“Now, at 321, we will be offering retail tenancies ranging priced from $ 550 to $ 600 per square metre.

“We are looking for that wine focus, restauranteurs who will complement the current mix. It’s all about having stand- out tenants and food producers who share the philosophy and are the best in their field,” says La Hood.

She points out that 309 K Rd had long been a destination, having in the past 10 years been home to venues including the famous Kiss Bar, Switch Bar and Bacio.

This 96- year- old building was stripped back to its original framework, with a new street frontage and a 70s industrial look to the 320 square metre open- plan space.

Architect Dominic Glamuzina of Glamuzina Architects designed a new frontage for the space at both 309, and the newly available retail space at 321 K Rd, achieving at both venues a level of character that reflects a culture of diversity and acceptance.

“The transformation achieved has meant so much to so many people who love the buzz of K Rd, and it is attracting long- term tenants to the area,” says La Hood,

The site at 309 will contain a fourshop artisan food and beverage collective, which i s to display the theatre of their produced goods, adding compliment to mix of quality operators K Rd has to offer.

Owner of the Argentinian barbe- cue restaurant El Sizzling Chorizo, Corra Anselmi, is opening his second restaurant “El Sizzling Lomito” there.

“The Lomito i s a very simple lunch item in Argentina, but it’s not your average sandwich,” says Corra.

“This sandwich is a slab of perfectly cooked beef that combines the char grill and smoke’s perfume from our onsite Argentinian barbecue”.

Pioneers in craft beer, Hallertau Brewery, will be part of K Rd Food Workshop family with owners Stephen and Hayley hugely excited about the opening of their new project Love Bucket.

Moustache Milk and Cookie Bar is now baking on site. This is the fourth milk and cookie bar for celebrated entrepreneur Deanna Yang, and will serve as her flagship store.
