$ 27m paypacket for Qantas boss

Qantas boss Alan Joyce’s annual pay has soared to A$ 24.58 million ($ 27.17m) after he steered the carrier’s turnaround. The Qantas chief executive’s total remuneration for 2016/ 17 increased 90 per cent on the A$ 12.96m he made the prior year as the more than doubling in Qantas’ share price fuelled a surge in the value of performance- based share entitlements. Joyce’s base pay was steady at A$ 2.11m but his paypacket was boosted by a A$ 1.8m cash bonus and A$ 6m in vesting performance awards, while the value of long term share- based incentives jumped from A$ 3.16m to A$ 14.49m.
