What I’d do

Friday evening As a design student, there very little expendable time during study periods but I usually manage to squeeze some sort of treat in for myself to celebrate the week that was. Often it’s a cheeky beer down at the new-ish local — The Beer Spot, coupled with tasty nibbles. Otherwise a nice home-cooked meal with my partner and 10 minutes of a film before he falls asleep. However, now the study year has just ended and there is daylight saving, it’ll be more long beach walks and fish and chip picnics.

Saturday Most of the day is spent working a barista in a little cafe in Victoria Park Market — The Standing Room. The girls and I are always having a laugh while we work. I’ve always had a passion for making people feel welcome and relaxed and always look forward to seeing my regulars who are all good friends. At 3pm I’ll either be preparing for a nana nap or heading straight to the books to study. I’ll usually head out for some drinks with friends or if I’m feeling like an escape I’ll head out of town for a spontaneous little overnight adventure. Sundays Ideally I’ll find myself a spot the sun with a good strong coffee and some Yellow Days or Daniel Caesar playing (current faves — look them up) But the most ideal Sunday for me is waking up somewhere new, out of town, ready to spend the day exploring. Or you can catch me on a bush walk with my dog, Ollie or at his favourite, Muriwai beach. This Sunday, I’m looking forward to a Arts stroll and a tasty bite to eat at the Coatesville Market — by far my favourite local market. Fingers crossed the weather stays prime. 4study

Sunday evening I’m done with

for the year, so I’ll be spending this time doing more things I want to do like gardening (my aim is strawberries this year) and actually cooking meals again. I also try to dedicate some time to family. Last week we treated ourselves to a sweet treat from our local gelato store, The Gelato Workshop. I couldn’t resist an affogato with the Ferrero Rocher flavour, then we headed down to Little Shoal Bay Reserve to enjoy the view. Also, there’s now no excuse for more walks with the pup, gym sessions and getting back into painting and commission design projects which I am very much looking forward to. Woo-hoo!
