Sevens side stumble in Dubai

The New Zealand women's sevens side failed to make the semifinals of a World Series tournament for only the third time after losing 14- 12 to the United States in yesterday’s Dubai quarter- finals. New Zealand beat the US 45- 14 in pool play the previous day but were downed in their rematch after conceding a converted try four minutes after the final hooter. The men’s team started their Dubai campaign with a 24- 12 victory over Samoa yesterday. Samoa led 12- 5 at halftime but New Zealand won with three second- half tries. The Kiwi men also required a comeback to beat Argentina 21- 19 in their second game. Trailing 19- 7, New Zealand scored two converted tries in the last four minutes to get home.
