Lauchlan takes long way home

- Paul Charman

JLL New Zealand has welcomed longtime former employee Todd Lauchlan back to this country, where he is to be managing director.

Lauchlan joined JLL as a Wellington-based leasing agent in 1995; four years later he was part of the company’s global client services team in London. In 2000 he became head of the Mumbai Agency, then director of the Indian Agency business in 2002.

In late 2003, Lauchlan moved to Beijing to direct commercial leasing, ahead of his return to New Zealand in 2005 to head up the country’s commercial leasing business.

A year later he joined government entity Sama Dubai, becoming that company’s regional manager for sales and marketing.

Then in 2008 he joined Abu Dhabibased Tourism Development and Investment Company — first as head of residential sales, then as head of its strategic services team.

In 2010 Lauchlan re-joined JLL as country head for Indonesia, where he was also made one of JLL’s international directors.

During his Indonesian tenure, the business there grew by more than 800 per cent, with the staff headcount climbing from 75 to more than 600 people.

Lauchlan now leaves his position in Indonesia to bring his family back to New Zealand.

“Having worked for JLL for many years in challenging and diverse roles, Todd brings a depth of experience back to the New Zealand business which will be of great benefit to both his team and to our clients,” says JLL Australia CEO Stephen Conry.

Lauchlan adds that it will be great to work alongside Kiwi colleagues and that he will relish the opportunity to further develop and grow the business here.

“I’m confident my experience and contacts from my time working in Asia Pacific will assist my new role. And I’m excited about the journey ahead with JLL New Zealand.” Todd Lauchlan will be managing director of JLL.
