A MARVEL BIRTHDAY

Marvel fanatics, get ready to party because Hoyts Cinemas are celebrating the 10th birthday of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by showing all the big-budget, big-action films on the big screen once more. There will be daily screenings at selected cinemas and Marvel Marathons on Saturday nights for those of you for whom one blockbuster super hit just ain’t enough. From tomorrow until September 22. See hoyts.co.nz for session times and tickets.

FENCIBLE QUILTERS

The Fencible Quilters are exhibiting their labours of love this weekend and if you’re in the market for a beautiful, handmade and locally made quilt, there’ll be plenty to choose from. Plus, no quilting club would hold an exhibit without also offering an excellent selection of home-baked fare — we’re crossing our fingers for ginger crunch and homemade brownies. If you purchase a raffle ticket you may be the lucky one to walk away with a bright and modern double-sized quilt of your very own.

Today and tomorrow, 10am-4pm, Howick Bowling Club, Selwyn Rd, Howick. $3 entry.

CROWN LYNN

Start or add to your collection of original Crown Lynn at the collector’s market. Nothing says Kiwi nostalgia like a 1970s brown and yellow floral-patterned plate — you’ll probably see a few of those and many more rarer designs at the 25 stalls of ceramics available for your perusal. Plus there’s cake and refreshments. Tomorrow, 10am-2pm, Te Toi Uku — Crown Lynn and Clayworks Museum, Auckland.

TREASURE!

Grab your one, two, three, four or more wheeler and head down to Kauri Point Reserve for the On Ya Wheels Treasure Hunt. Take the whole whanau, pick up the treasure map on arrival, follow it, complete the challenges, and collect your treasure at the end. What fun! Today, 10am-noon, Kauri Point Reserve, Manurewa.
