-

Kiwi singles sculler Robbie Manson has avoided a scare to sneak into the final at the world rowing championships. The favourite to win gold, Manson could only snare the third and final qualifying spot in his semifinal, finishing just 0.77 seconds ahead of the fourth-placed finisher. Both New Zealand eights crews missed out on the final, with the men and women finishing fifth in their repechages. Rosier results were recorded by the men’s pair, who qualified for their final, while the women’s and men’s double scullers also finished strongly to book their spots in the finale.
