This was supposed to be a dude-free issue. We weren’t going to make it a big deal, but as New Zealand celebrates the 125th anniversary of women’s suffrage, we were cutting out the guys. We nearly got there too: flip through these pages and you’ll barely see a bloke. Just awesome women doing awesome things. Like Octavia Holt, Marvel’s new superhero. Or the kids from The Secret Life of Girls, one of whom might be the next Jacinda. Then someone pointed out the big flaw in that plan: me. Yep, that’s my mug sitting right here on page 3. I checked. Apparently it has to be there. Sorry about that.
