Weekend Herald

FROM THE DESK

I’m a geek. There, I said it. These days it’s no big deal. Anyone who obsesses about anything, from Marvel movies to the latest iPhone release, could probably be described as a nerd. Being passionate about something is what life’s all about. But when Bill Geradts was growing up in the 80s that wasn’t the case. He found himself being bullied for his Dr Who fandom. He’s had the last laugh: his small Dr Who fanclub has grown into Armageddon, an event which will see 70,000 fans attend in Auckland next weekend. I met him, his small team and their garden Dalek, and you can read their fascinating story over the page.
