Tweet of the week: “Geoff Boycott turns 78 today. It’s taken him 894 years to get there.” A bloke with the Twitter handle of @NickMotown celebrating the dour England opener’s birthday.

Stat of the week: It took 18 years and 119 starts on the Ladies European Tour but for Welsh golfer Becky Morgan it was worth the wait as she finally won her first tournament after what must have felt like a lifetime of trying (well, it was almost the equaivalent of Lydia Ko’s lifetime). Morgan 44, was naturally quite pleased: “Best golfing day of my life! So happy to have finally won a tournament. It’s taken me 18 years and it’s a mixture of excitement and relief that I have finally done it.”

Number of the week: 30. Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil scored his 30th English Premier League goal in his team’s 3-1 win over Leicester City on Monday, making him the highest-scoring German in Premier League history.

Oddly enough: LeBron James’ move to the Los Angeles Lakers got off to a pretty rough start with the Lakers losing their first three games of the NBA season. It was the first time since his second season in Cleveland, 14 years ago, that James has been on the losing team three times in a row at the start of the season. The streak ended with a win over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday.
