Back at the end of 2015, everyone spent their Christmas holidays bingeing on Netflix’s true crime hit Making a Murderer. Recently, the streaming service debuted a second season, one being described by reviewers as too academic. So, instead of trawling through another 10 episodes of that, you should instead head out to a cinema this weekend to see American Animals. Yes, it’s true crime, but this is no documentary. Instead, actors portray events, while interviews with those involved at the time are used sparingly, with great effect. Don’t google it, the less you know the better. But do go: it will be the best time you’ve had in a cinema this year. American Animals ,in theatres nationwide. Chris Schulz
