Park neighbours quiet

-

There have been many and varied opinions voiced in recent days on a central city sports stadium to replace Eden Park, a venue where as a young man I enjoyed playing many club games. Conspicuous by their silence are the formerly vocal “Eden Park Neighbours”, most of whom bought their homes long after Eden Park had become Auckland’s major rugby and cricket home. Are they now perhaps more concerned about the effect hundreds of houses and apartments, not to mention the many hundreds of people, will have on their privacy and peaceful nights?

The downtown stadium should have been built when first mooted, for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
