As summer rolls around and people fixate on the beach readiness of their bodies, there’s a grim reality that many of us will choose to ignore and that’s the fact that a significant number of people will drown this summer in preventable incidents. In 2017,
92 people drowned under what are considered preventable circumstances. It’s Water Safety Weekend at Okahu Bay and there will be demonstrations and displays promoting drowning prevention education, along with activities, forums, fun games and on-site experts.
