Everyone, especially the children knows that Father Christmas is male, therefore, the gender “Father” falls to a man. This saga is just ridiculous . . . making mountains out of molehills.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Santa is a particular role that needs to be cast accordingly — you wouldn’t hire a middleaged man to play Cinderella at Disneyland.
