What I’d do

1 On Saturdays I often stay with my actor friend Emma Newborn and her famous cat, Governor Grey (he has more Facebook likes than any of us do) at Old Government House, and she makes the best breakfast in Auckland. Seriously, you’ve got to try it.

2 A wee trot through the tracks in the Domain is a nice way to start the day if I’m feeling energetic. Otherwise I’ll have a slow morning pottering around the house before some culinary delight arrives in my lap. Catching up with friends is usually high on the agenda when I’m in town, and Bestie in St Kevin’s Arcade is perfect both for vibe and the fact that if one of us is running late the other can peruse the plethora of vintage racks in the vicinity.

3 For night time activities, sticking close to the city there’s always a great gig on at the The Wine Cellar or Anthology Lounge, and I’m not ashamed to say that many evenings postgig we seem to end up outside K Rd's Little Turkish Cafe on the end of a sheesha.

4 On Sunday morning I pick a favourite West Coast beach and see who’s up for a bit of a leg stretch in the Waitakeres. Usually all the hard work is ruined by fish and chips on the way home — but

YOLO.
