What I’d do

- Victoria Abbott

1 base, I usually roll out of bed (I don’t like having a bed so that is literal) and pretend to meditate for a bit while ignoring my rumbly tummy. Then if I’m feeling flush, brunch at Kokako in Grey Lynn. Black rice porridge with salted coconut cream and green papaya: heaven.

2 up I’ll text the summer friend swim squad, then pack my nana’s sunhat and head to the beach. Thorne Bay — it’s the mini Bondi of Auckland, where the beautiful people go. I like to breeze in the colour of Casper the friendly ghost and leave shrimp pink. I’m kidding. I’m a sunscreen-365-days-of-the-year person, except my mid-back, which currently has a sunburnt silhouette of a handprint on it.

3 show Saturday night I’ll probably hit an Auckland Fringe or two: Untitled Exhibit and Tide Waits For No Man: Episode Grace are on my list. Then a night walk home, patting any neighbourhood cats I come across.

4 Bookshop Sunday means a leisurely visit to the Women's on Ponsonby Rd, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. It's the perfect spot to peruse books handpicked by the legendary owner, Carole Beu. It's always all killer, no filler. I'll be in getting a copy of Julian is a Mermaid and Her Body and Other Parties.

5 Sweat Sunday evening is all about Yin with Vanessa at Yoga. She’s come back from the UK and we are all reaping the dreamy, stretchy benefits. Victoria Abbott performs her acclaimed show, Run Rabbit, from February 28-March 2 at Q Theatre as part of the Auckland Fringe Festival.
